A re-examination of 53 type specimens of Thai fishes described by Hugh McCormick Smith and in the Collection of Smithsonian Institution

บทคัดย่อ
Dr. Hugh McCormick Smith (1865-1941) was an American ichthyologist who lived and worked in Thailand during 1923-1935 as a special fisheries advisor to the Siam (Thai) Government. Based on his work, three important scientific papers were published during 1931-45 describing 62 new species of ichthyofauna. Most of Smith’s type specimens have been deposited in the Smithsonian Institution, U.S.A., while a few are in Thailand at the Kasetsart University Museum of Fisheries. The present study, conducted during a visit to the Smithsonian Institution in May 2013, documents 53 of Smith’s primary types held at the Smithsonian Institution.
