บทคัดย่อ

Geographical variations were osteometrically examined in various populations of the common tree shrew (Tupaia glis.). The principal component anlysis was applied in skull measurement data among three groups; (1) population from the northern side of the Isthmus of Kra, (2) population from the southern side of the Isthmus of Kra, and (3) population from the Borvane Plateau of Laos. The Laos plots are seattered and completely intermingled with the northern population, whereas the plots of the southern population could be basically distinguished from those of the other two groups. It suggests that the Isthmus of Kra may have an influence of zoogeographical factor in the common tree shrew, although the speciation should be detailed in the future. The common tree shrew population from Borvane Plateau in Laos is included in those of the northern territory in skull morphological charaters.
